Afro Samurai

Based on the famed graphic novel by Takashi Okazaki, it took producer/actor Samuel L. Jackson (who also provides the voice for the series' lead character, Afro) to bring Afro Samurai to the small screen and DVD. A fusion of of hip-hop rhythms, sci-fi adventure and old-world Japanese backgrounds, the show offers a unique animated experience to viewers with diverse tastes.

Jackson stars as Afro, the solitary samurai in a world that is, again, both ancient Japan and futuristic at the same time. Afro is on a quest to avenge the wrongful death of his beloved father. Stoic and perhaps unfeeling to the outside world, it is his personal journey that keeps him on his path. Evading powerful enemies in a lawless utopia, he endures much pain, blood and hardship to capture his final prey, the man who killed his father, who is also, unfortunately, a man who will not die. Unlike anything you've seen before, this series provides what may well prove to be the next chapter in the ever-shifting world of animation. Take the journey with Afro.
